In a tropical climate like ours where the sun hit really hard most times, occasionally grabbing a glass of cold water, seems like the best move. After all, the coolness of the water can make you feel less scorched. What you do not know, however, is that drinking cold water can negatively affect your body.
Although drinking water frequently is great for you as it helps maintain the balance of body fluids, the cooler the water, the harsher the consequences.
Below here are few ways drinking cold water can affect your body negatively .
IT CAN RESTRICT DIGESTION!
Cold water very much affects your digestion and unfortunately, it is negatively . How does drinking cold water negatively affect your digestion you may ask. Especially since it feels so soothing after a hot and delicious meal. Well, the cold water contracts your blood vessels and hinders your body’s natural process of absorbing nutrients during digestion.
This happens because your body’s focus is diverted from digestion to regulating the body temperature and the chilled water. Your body then spends extra energy needed for proper digestion trying to regulate your body temperature. So basically, when you drink cold water after a meal, you cause stress to your digestive system.
IT OBSTRUCTS THE BREAKDOWN OF FATs
Apart from affecting digestion, drinking cold water almost immediately after a meal also affects your body’s ability to break down fats effectively .The low temperature of the water solidifies fats from the food you have eaten and as a result, makes it difficult for your body to break down the unwanted fats from your body. Even if you plan to drink water at room temperature, it is ideal to wait at least 30 minutes after your meal before doing so.
IT INCREASES YOUR CHANCES OF HAVING A SORE THROAT
As obvious as this may seem, it is quite necessary to point this out. When you drink cold water, especially after a meal, it results in the buildup of excess mucus, which forms the protective layer of the respiratory tract.
However, when the tract gets congested, it becomes vulnerable to many inflammatory infections which can cause you to have a sore throat.
IT CAN DECREASE HEART RATE
Studies have shown that drinking cold water can reduce your heart rate. Here’s how it works. Once you drink cold water, it may stimulate the vagus nerve which is an important part of the body’s autonomous nervous system with its main role being to control involuntary actions of the body. This nerve is directly affected by the low temperatures of water.
The low temperatures of the cold water then act as a stimulus to the nerve which causes the heart rate to drop. Too much grammar perhaps? Simply put, the cold water tells the nerve to slow down your heart rate. And who is the nerve not to obey?
If you’re stuck at home with your significant other, there are lots of ways you can spend quality time together and make memories that will last for years to come.
Due to the COVID-19 out break and then government laws and advice is to practice social distancing wherever possible We’re all spending more time inside than ever before these days, and it looks like that situation is set to continue.
However, that doesn’t mean we’re not also looking for ways to keep ourselves occupied while we respect the guidelines and stay indoors – and that’s where these indoor date ideas come in.
If you’re stuck at home with your significant other, there are lots of ways you can spend quality time together and make memories that will last for years to come.
1. Draw a bath and let the wine flow
When it comes to being in a long-term relationship, there are quite a few ways to bond with your partner, as well as several boundaries you should never cross. And, when you think about it, a lot of them occur at home — especially when it comes to sharing intimate spaces, like the bathroom.
A bubble bath can be sooo relaxing after a hard day, and taking one together adds a little sexy sweetness to the mix. Kick things up a notch by sharing a bottle of wine while you’re in there. “Many people hear ‘date’ and think it has to be a thing—getting dressed up, having reservations, and spending money,” Durvasula says. “Not at all. A date is simply time together.
2. Eat like kids again
Everyone has favorite treats from when they were little, and there’s usually a story or two behind them. Stock up on cereals, snacks, and foods you both loved as kids, and enjoy them together. Don’t forget to swap old stories while you’re at it—you’ll probably learn something new about your partner’s childhood in the process. Sharing a snack that brings up fond memories is a prime way to release oxytocin, the cuddle chemical and make you and your partner feel even closer to each other.
3. Cook Together
Cook something new, fresh and exotic, something you’ve never tried before but always wanted to or try your hand at baking a cake or cookies. Turn on the music the process and hum around the kitchen together, then settle down with a bottle to enjoy your spoils.
4. Host a workout together
Try workout together by competing each other in a workout, E.g. who can do more push-ups, walk on the treadmill longer or perform the various yoga poses—or, do couples yoga together. Studies suggest that competition can really crank up the libido.
5. Dance the Night Away
Romantic dancing has all the intimacy of a romantic date; turn down the lights, turn up the music, and lose yourself in each other’s arms and just imagine the affection , emotion and love that will be aired .
6. Host a movie night with the Netflix Party extension
With Netflix party which is a Chrome extension that synchronizes video playback and adds a group-chat function to anything you want to watch on Netflix. My recommendation? Watch a notoriously bad movie over something more earnest. That way, you can bond over the corny parts, laugh at the stale jokes, and flex your humor muscle with witty commentary. Movie theater, arm-over-seat romance is hard to re-create when we’re apart, so lean into the alternative.
7. Have A YouTube Night
With YouTube it’s basically impossible to run of things to watch because Several hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every single minute. You could learn a new skill or recipe together, go back to the glory days of MTV with music videos, get sucked into the world of vlogs or unboxings or conspiracy theories, or just sit back and scroll through animals doing ridiculously adorable things on a loop. Curate your own playlist to your interests initially, and then let the suggested videos come to you.
8. Establish a Book Club
Has your partner ever read the best novel you’ve ever read ?If the answer is no, you’ve got an instant date idea right there – lend each other your all-time favourites and then reconvene to discuss them over a cup of tea (or glass of wine, or gin and tonic, depending on how lively you want things to get). Curling up with a riveting read is one of the most comforting things you can do as a couple. If you both tend to read on tablets rather than physical pages, don’t forget that Kindle allows you to loan books too.
