Afrobeat singer Fireboy DML born as Adedamola Adefolahan takes Vulkan Magazine through his musical journey and his life off the public eyes as he shines bright covering the magazine’s latest digital issue.
For the YBNL signee, “My life was probably going to end up as a regular guy’s life until I found myself in the studio one day and made my first song,” he opened up. “Since then it’s been music for me.”
Speaking to Vulkan magazine, Fireboy DML opened up about a lot of things, read excerpts below.
Describing himself, Fireboy DML says:
“I’m an afrobeat artist that is laid back, quirky, has sexual, sensual energy around him, that’s what my brand represents. Young and full of life but deep down an old soul.”
On why he chose music:
“Because music gives me purpose. It gives me a sense of direction that I did not have. You know, I thought I had everything figured out. I’ve always been a serious person, serious minded and all that but I didn’t have a sense of direction. I didn’t have a purpose and music gives me that.“
On the importance of creating music for him:
“Music is a generous lover, music doesn’t want any side hustle or anything taking away from it. Just put everything you have into it and it will give you back wonderful things.”
On his role in leading the wave of Afrobeats in the States:
“We’re all doing a great job. Pioneers, Legends, Senior men, like I like to call them in the industry, and of course the new generation which I represent.”
“Afrobeats is history, it represents where I’m from, it represents my culture, my home, my happy place. it’s culture, it brings a lot of people together, it’s got so many components.”
On his ultimate goal of making music:
“Speaking to people’s souls from your own perspective and letting them feel like you’re there with them, sitting them down, singing to them, giving them those words and what not. That’s what inspires my writing.”
Clarifying the meaning of “soul”:
“Soul to me is the essence of a being. It’s the real us beneath the facade of everything, of our personalities, our parents.”
On his path forward:
“I want to experience more people and experience more things. To open up myself and be more adventurous with things so that’s what my new album is going to represent.”

Emmy Awards 2021: See All The Red Carpet Looks
Stars gathered in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 19, for the 73rd annual Primetime Emmy Awards.
A year after an unprecedented remote ceremony due to the pandemic, one would expect plenty of glam from celebrities and of course they didn’t disappoint. We witnessed fierce and fearsome fashions of the red carpet, where television’s hottest stars battled for sartorial supremacy.
The award night had no shortage of great looks, ranging from stunning to sexy, though we liked it best when the nominees evoked their characters with their choices.
Here’s a closer look at some of the standout style that came down the red carpet at the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards.
Mercy Eke And Christiana Kayode Twinning Fashion Moment— Matching Shoes
In the fashion scene, wearing same outfit as someone else is just a fact of life- from clothes to various accessories. And definitely even famous people embrace a little wardrobe switching every now and then, with Mercy Eke and Christiana Kayode recently twinning, wearing the exact same shoes.
In Mercy Eke’s Instagram post, captioned “Protect Your Enegy🌹”, the reality star poses for a series of photos. In the pictures, she’s donning a button up white jumpsuit which is above her knees, consisting of a white belt to match, her bone straight from Lucious Virgin Hair perfectly styled.
Unlike Christiana Kayode, who opted for an entirely different dress from Payporte to suit her shoes. She wore a mini white gown, with blazers and bag to match. Her hair in long curls. Captioning the photos she wrote, “Lights, Camera, Action…Living my life like it’s a movie 🎥 🥰🥰🥰”
As for accessories, the close-up snaps show these fashionistas rocking earrings, bangles and a watch.
Subtle yet, speaks volume. Oh, how we love a head-to-toe stylish lewk.
It kind of goes without saying, but I am going to say it anyway, Mercy and Christiana look absolutely fierce in these outfits. Also, their neutral-toned manicure looks mega fresh.
The shoes which came in same color- yellow, fit their legs perfectly. As they both tie the ropes on their ankle which without a doubt is ideal.
Now, if you think the shoes look familiar, you’re not wrong. In fact, you’re very right.
One of our favourite things about celeb outfit twinning is seeing how different folks put their own personal style spin onto the same item.
