Jennifer Hudson Crowned An ‘EGOT’ Winner At The 75th Tony Awards

Jennifer Hudson was crowned an ‘EGOT’ winner at the 75th Tony Awards at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on Sunday, June 12.

The singer and actress won for her work as a producer on A Strange Loop, the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical written by Michael R. Jackson that follows a Black gay man as he tries to write a musical while struggling with identity – which was crowned Best Musical.

Hudson now joins an illustrious list of entertainers to have won and Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony, otherwise known as an EGOT that was first coined in a 30 Rock television episode.

Hudson is now the 17th person to achieve the EGOT, which has been referred to as the ‘grand slam’ of show business.

She has made history as the third Black EGOT winner, and the fifth woman.

Ahead of the ceremony, the American Idol alum strutted out in front of the cameras decked out in a black gown that’s adorned with a striking white and black pattern along the the top portion.

The 2022 BET Awards held on Sunday night, June 26 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles and hosted by Taraji P. Henson. The award show celebrate Black excellence in music, culture and sports.

Lizzo stunned in a resplendent midnight boudoir-style gown with feather sleeves by Gucci, while British actress and singer Cynthia Erivo wore a colourful two-piece by Louis Vuitton.

Sisters Chloe and Halle Bailey, known as Chloe x Halle, both wore striking black designs, Chloe’s sequinned piece created by Lebanese designer, Nicolas Jebran, and Halle’s by Monot.

Wizkid & Tems Bag Awards At The 2022 BET Awards | List Of All The Winners

The 2022 BET Awards held on Sunday night, June 26 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles and hosted by Taraji P. Henson. The award show celebrate Black excellence in music, culture and sports.

It saw high-profile figures across every sector of the entertainment industry receive trophies for their work and in addition to Diddy being honored with the lifetime achievement award, he was joined onstage by a slew of fellow winners.

Bruno Mars accepted the prize for album of the year for An Evening With Silk Sonic, joined onstage by songwriter/producer D’Mile in place of his overseas musical partner Anderson .Paak, and Silk Sonic also took home the best group award too.

Afrobeats was well represented at the award with Pheelz performing on the red carpet and Fireboy DML performing at the live event.

Wizkid won the award for Best Collaboration for ‘Essence’ featuring Tems and Justin Bieber. Tems also took home the award for Best International Act.

Join Your Favorite Stars At The Youth Vote Count Mega Concert On The 11th Of June

The Youth Initiative for Advocacy, Growth and Advancement (YIAGA) and its partners has unveiled the Youth Vote Count Mega Concert ahead of the 2023 Presidential election.

The event is scheduled to hold on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos. It is see the likes of celebrities like Falz, Mr. Macaroni, Waje, M.I, Bella Shmurda and many other Influencers.

The idea is to make sure the youths get their PVC and vote for the coming Presidential election. The only access to this event is the Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) or the Temporary Voter’s slip. If you don’t have your PVC, you’ll be registered at the venue from June 6th – June 11th between 9am and 5pm.
