Lorde Is The Cover Star For Vogue’s October Issue

Lorde is covering Vogue’s October 2021 issue in a stunning gold breastplate by Schiaparelli Haute Couture festooned with metal flowers.

The singer, posed in a range of other metallic looks for her beachside cover shoot, including a plunging gold Dior Haute Couture gown, a bedazzled Dolce & Gabbana bodysuit and a slinky Balenciaga tank dress.

Speaking to vogue about her outfit, she said; “I can register fashion as both beautiful and absurd. [I was] thinking, A pharaoh is lying right there, and we’re in couture. But I kind of love it.”

Lorde, 24, likewise spoke about her conscious choice to step back from the spotlight and social media. “I’m a highly sensitive person. I’m not built for pop star life,” she admitted.

“To have a public-facing existence is something I find really intense and is something I’m not good at. That natural charisma is not what I have.”

Tommy Hilfiger is an American fashion house. They just launched their Pass the Mic campaign. The company wants to show that everyone has the power to affect and change the world because voices speak volumes.

Their new Autumn campaign called “Pass the Mic,” features a company of different talents. Hilfiger believe each of these all promote participation from their communities through digital activations.

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala Make Time’s 100 Most Influential List

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has been named among the top 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine.

The director general of the World Trade Organization is featured alongside the likes of Prince Harry & Meghan Markle, singer Britney Spears, Apple CEO Tim Cook and gymnast Simone Biles.

A new photo of Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has been released for the magazine’s front cover to mark the accolade.

According to Time Magazine:

“As the first African and first woman to lead the World Trade Organization, a 164-member group of nations that oversees trade across the world, Okonjo-Iweala took on the role of director-general this March at a watershed moment for our global health and well-being. Make no mistake, her job affects every person, family and community.

As we face a constant barrage of vaccine misinformation, bureaucratic slowdowns across both government and industry, and the rise of variants that underscore the urgency of the situation, Okonjo-Iweala has shown us that to end the pandemic, we must work together to equip every nation with equitable vaccine access. Our conversations with her have been as informative as they are energizing. This is partly because, despite the challenges, she knows how to get things done—even between those who don’t always agree—and does so with grace and a smile that warms the coldest of rooms.

The fragility of our world right now cannot be overstated. Just over a quarter of the nearly 8 billion global population is fully vaccinated.
Achieving vaccine equity is a global duty of compassion for one another. Our hope is that guided by strong leaders like Ngozi, we can get there soon.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Named Among ‘World’s 100 Most Influential People’ By Time magazine

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been named among other stars in Time Magazine’s 2021 list of the 100 most influential people on the planet along with an ‘awkward’ photoshoot and tribute from a friend who praised them for ‘running toward the struggle’ rather than living a quiet life.

The US publication released a glossy and heavily-airbrushed cover on Harry’s 37th birthday showing the Duke of Sussex standing behind his wife with his arms on her right shoulder.

These glossy photos are accompanied by a gushing profile, branded sycophantic by critics, written by their friend and chef José Andrés, whose charity World Central Kitchen is loved by the Sussexes and supported by their Archewell foundation in India and the Caribbean.

He wrote: ”In a world where everyone has an opinion about people they don’t know, the duke and duchess have compassion for the people they don’t know. They don’t just opine. They run toward the struggle.”

On the cover, Harry is dressed in an all black ensemble and Meghan dressed in white from head to toe on a terrace at their $14.65million mansion in Montecito, California. According to Mr Andres, the couple are ”blessed through birth and talent, and burned by fame. It would be much safer to enjoy their good fortune and stay silent. That’s not what Harry and Meghan do, or who they are”

In another image, they are in matching grey office-style clothes next to a widow. These outfits were chosen by celebrity stylists Clare and Nina Hallwroth, who have recently dressed Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston, in pictures taken by Serbian Pari Dukovic. But a critic, fellow photographer tweeted: ”Terrible retouching job. They look CGI.”

Others wrote: ”This photo looks photoshopped. Also, the way they are positioned is very revealing: it’s the Meghan show and Harry is just the supporting actor.” Another said said: ”Harry looks completely awkward peering behind his wife like this.”

A critic claimed the cover photo reflected the power dynamic in the relationship, because Meghan is in front of her husband, tweeting: ”Wow, this photo speaks volumes. There is no hiding who’s in control.”

Mr Andres describes the famous incident when Harry was serving in Afghanistan for the British Army, he was forced to run to his Apache helicopter after his airbase came under fire.

He wrote: ”That same sense of urgency drives Meghan, now the Duchess of Sussex, who has long been an active humanitarian and a powerful advocate for women and girls around the world. Springing into action is not the easy choice for a young duke and duchess who have been blessed through birth and talent, and burned by fame. That’s not what Harry and Meghan do, or who they are.”

”They turn compassion into boots on the ground through their Archewell Foundation. They give voice to the voiceless through media production. Hand in hand with nonprofit partners, they take risks to help communities in need—offering mental-health support to Black women and girls in the U.S., and feeding those affected by natural disasters in India and the Caribbean.”
