The Weeknd Donates $1 Million To Feed Women And Children In Ethiopia

Canadian singer, songwriter and record producer, Abel Tesfaye, popularly known as The Weeknd, has donated $1 million to World Food Program USA, the U.S. subsidiary of the United Nations World Food Program,
to support hunger relief in Ethiopia. The huge donation amounts to 2 million meals and will give lifesaving food to those influenced by the struggle in Ethiopia’s northern Tigray Region.

The Weeknd mentioned on his Instagram and Twitter accounts on Sunday, April 4, 2021.

“I will be donating $1 million to provide 2 million meals through the United Nations world food programme and encourage those who can to please give as well.”

The Weeknd has been donating for victims for a while now. He contributed $300,000 to the global aid for Lebanon campaign last August to help casualties of an explosion in Beirut that killed more than 200 individuals.

He likewise gave $500,000 to racial equity gatherings: the back lives matter worldwide organization, Colin Kaepernick’s realize your privileges camp and the public bailout aggregate after the executing of George Floyd.

Ethiopia has been going through a conflict since November 2020. It started when prime minister Abiy Ahmed ordered attacks on the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) after Ahmed alleged that TPLF had attacked a federal military base.

Ruth Kadiri announced the news via Instagram, sharing shinning maternity photos and one of her embracing her newborn in the hospital, which she captioned: “Dear Emerald-Chizaram-Ezerika born 20th of July 2022. I want you to know that I prayed for you. Waited for you. Loved you before I met you. And you have made our lives a complete reminder that God answers prayers❤️.”

Their first child Reign Ezerika will turn 3 in August. Congratulations to the Ezerikas on their new addition!

Nollywood veteran actor Jim Iyke has signed a new ambassadorial deal with Dubai Based South Sudan Owned Money Transfer Platform, M. Gurush.

Joseph Arinaitwe, MD of M.GURUSH disclosed that a mutual friend brokered a meeting between Jim Iyke and the Chairman of Trinity Energy group; South Sudan foremost business mogul, Akol E Ayii in Dubai for an entirely different business deal.

Akol Ayii who doubles as Chairman of M.GURUSH was so impressed by Jim Iyke’s business pitch and personality that he not only acceded to the pitch to partner with Lofty media which is co-owned by the serial entrepreneur actor but proposed to have him come on board his entity as a spokesman in a deal earmarked to be around 200k dollars yearly.

President Buhari Presides Over The Federal Executive Council Meeting Swearing In 7 New Ministers

President Muhammadu Buhari presided over the Federal Executive Council Meeting today, July 6, 2022. During the gathering, a minute silence was held in honor of Dr. Muhammad Sanusi Barkindo the secretary general of OPEC who passed on the 5th of July. President Buhari also swore in 7 new Ministers.

The newly appointed ministers and their positions are:

1) Ikechukwu Ikoh — Minister of State, Science and Technology

2) Umana Umana —  Minister of Niger Delta Affairs

3)  Udi Odum — Minister of State and Environment

4) Ademola Adegoroye — Minister of State and Transport

5) Umar Ibrahim El-Yakub — Minister of State, Works and Housing

6) Goodluck Opiah — Minister of State and Education

7) Nkama Ekumankama — Minister of State and Health

There was also 3 reassignment of positions in the president’s cabinet, saying “the new redeployment is aimed at reinvigorating certain sectors where the government desires to accomplish improved results.”

The following ministers who were re-assigned are;

1) Senator Adeleke Mamora — Minister of Science and Technology (formerly Minister of State, Health)

2) Mu’azu Jaji Sambo — Minister of Transportation (formerly Minister of State, Works and Housing)

3) Sharon Ikeazor — Minister of State, Niger Delta (formerly Minister of State and Environment) 

4) Sen. Gbemisola Saraki — Minister of State, Mines and Steel Development (formerly Minister of State and  Transportation)
