Canadian singer, songwriter and record producer, Abel Tesfaye, popularly known as The Weeknd, has donated $1 million to World Food Program USA, the U.S. subsidiary of the United Nations World Food Program,
to support hunger relief in Ethiopia. The huge donation amounts to 2 million meals and will give lifesaving food to those influenced by the struggle in Ethiopia’s northern Tigray Region.

“I will be donating $1 million to provide 2 million meals through the United Nations world food programme and encourage those who can to please give as well.”
The Weeknd has been donating for victims for a while now. He contributed $300,000 to the global aid for Lebanon campaign last August to help casualties of an explosion in Beirut that killed more than 200 individuals.
